The markets slipped down from the day’s high and early gains recorded in the exchange dragged mostly by Banking and Financial sector in the last trading hours. The markets saw volatile action post PM Modi’s announcement of tax scheme.

At closing, Sensex was at 38,310, down by 59 points, or 0.14%. Nifty 50 closed at 11,300, down 7 points or, 0.07%. The banking indiex of Nifty underperformed dragged by major banking stocks, Nifty Midcap 100 rose 270 points or 1.66% to 16,638.

  • Top gainers of Nifty – Bharat forge, Interglobe Aviation, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Hindalco, Larsen, Titan Company.
  • Top losers of Nifty- Aurobindo Pharm, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, Indiabulls Hsg, Eicher Motors, NTPC.
  • Aurobindo Pharma dipped over 5% to Rs 881.30 losing over 50 points.
  • Bharat Forge surged over 15%, Ashok Leyland up 13% and Interglobe Aviation up 12%.
  • Pharma and Banks dragged the markets the most whereas Auto stocks on outperformed.
  • 953 shares have advanced at closing in market and 660 shares declined.
