
The benchmark indices continued to close higher for the second day of the week as Banks, FMCG and Metals shine in the trading session on Tuesday. Sensex in early trade crossed 38500 level.
At Market closing, Sensex closed higher by 224 points or 0.59% at 38,407. Nifty closed gaining 62 points or 0.55% at 11,332 and Nifty Banking index added 343 points or 1.47% to close at 22,243.

- IDFC Bank and Axis Bank surged nearly 7% and 4% respectively.
- Pharma Stocks and IT stocks underperformed today with all major stocks like Cipla, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra ending red.
- As much as 917 shares advanced and 718 shares declined (NSE).
