Krishna Janmashtami, a festival celebrated with great joy and devotion in honor of the birth of Lord Krishna, will be observed on Monday, August 26, 2024. The day is marked by various religious rituals, fasting, and festive activities across India.
Due to the celebrations, banks in several cities will be closed on August 26. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) annual bank holiday list, the closure will affect banks in Gujarat, Odisha, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Srinagar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Himachal Pradesh.
While banks will not be operational on this day, financial markets will continue to function as usual. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain open for trading on Janmashtami. Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also operate normally, with trading sessions taking place in both the morning and evening.
