Uttar Pradesh batter Sameer Rizvi sparked a bidding war between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans during the IPL 2024 mini-auction.
Eventually, CSK secured his rights for a hefty sum of 8.40 crore. Since then, fans eagerly anticipated the young talent’s debut.
Although he didn’t get a chance to bat in the opening game, Rizvi made sure to make his mark in the second match by taking Rashid Khan to task.
Rizvi’s onslaught, which included two consecutive sixes off Rashid’s bowling, even brought a smile to MS Dhoni’s face from the dressing room.
While Rizvi was showcasing his skills on the field at Chepauk, his family enjoyed his performance from the comfort of their home. In a video circulating on the internet, one of his family members could be heard recalling his promise to hit a six off the first ball when he debuted for CSK.
In the video Rizvi’s family was heard saying “Keh ke gaya tha, pehli ball pe six marunga”- which he surely did!
