The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has released the official trading holiday calendar for 2026, confirming that the Indian stock market will remain closed for 15 days next year. The holiday list includes major national events and prominent religious festivals observed across the country.

Interestingly, five holidays fall on a Friday, creating extended weekends that traders and investors will want to note in advance.

Budget Day Trading Likely on Sunday

In addition to the scheduled holidays, markets may witness a special live trading session on Sunday, February 1, 2026, when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to present the Union Budget. The exchanges have historically remained open on Budget Day even when it falls on a weekend, to allow markets to react instantly to major policy announcements.
