Shares of Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) will be in focus today, Friday, July 11, after the FMCG major announced the appointment of Priya Nair as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective August 1, 2025, for a five-year term.
Nair, currently serving as President, Beauty & Wellbeing at Unilever, will succeed Rohit Jawa, who will step down on July 31 to explore new personal and professional opportunities.
The company noted that Nair will also join the HUL Board, subject to necessary approvals, and will remain part of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE).
HUL Chairman Nitin Paranjpe commented on the leadership transition, stating, “Priya has had an outstanding career in HUL and Unilever. I am certain that with her deep understanding of the Indian market and excellent track record, Priya will take HUL to the next level of performance.”
Having joined HUL in 1995, Nair has held multiple senior leadership roles across categories including home care, beauty & personal care, and marketing. Her notable stints include serving as Executive Director for Home Care (2014–2020) and Beauty & Personal Care (2020–2022), followed by her elevation to Global Chief Marketing Officer and later President of Beauty & Wellbeing.
Outgoing CEO Rohit Jawa, who took charge in 2023, has been credited for leading the company through a challenging period. “The company took decisive actions to sharpen the portfolio and further stepped up its market leadership over the last two years,” said Paranjpe.
The leadership change comes at a pivotal time for HUL as it continues to navigate an evolving consumption environment and intensifying competition in the FMCG space.
