Shares of Vodafone Idea surged more than 6% on Monday, September 15, trading at ₹8.15, after the company moved the Supreme Court seeking relief in the long-standing adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues case.
The case, registered as W.P.(C) No. 000882/2025, is likely to be listed on September 19, 2025, according to the Supreme Court’s computer-generated schedule.
Vodafone Idea, along with Vineet Laxmipat Choraria, has filed a writ petition against the Union of India, challenging the additional AGR demands raised for the period up to FY 2016-17. The plea requests the apex court to quash these demands and direct the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to reassess them under updated verification guidelines.
This legal development has injected momentum into the stock as investors see potential relief in Vodafone Idea’s long-term liabilities and repayment commitments. However, the outcome of the hearing could also bring fresh volatility depending on the court’s stance.
