GPT Infraprojects Limited shares rose over 2% in early trade after the company announced that it has secured a new construction contract worth ₹199.2 crore from the North Eastern Railway, adding fresh visibility to its order book.

The contract has been awarded by CAO/CON, Gorakhpur, North Eastern Railway, and relates to a key railway infrastructure project in Uttar Pradesh. Under the scope of work, GPT Infraprojects will undertake the construction of substructures along with fabrication and launching of superstructures for two major railway bridges — Bridge No. 247 and Bridge No. 287. Each bridge will comprise ten spans of 61 metres and will be built using Double D type well foundations designed for double-line traffic.

The bridges will be constructed over the Rapti river between Balrampur and Bahraich stations as part of the new railway line project on the Khalilabad–Bahraich section of the North Eastern Railway. The structures are being developed to meet RDSO standards with a 25-tonne axle load, aligning with Indian Railways’ specifications for higher-capacity freight and passenger movement.

The order has been awarded by a domestic government entity and does not involve any related-party transactions. The company has clarified that neither the promoters nor promoter group entities have any interest in the awarding authority. The execution period for the project is 730 days from the appointed date.
