“Ten Hag has not been very lucky. It’s a shame that it had to end like that. He brought me to United, the goal was to achieve success together with Erik,” says De Ligt following sacking of Ten Hag. Manchester United’s summer signing Matthijs de Ligt has voiced his support for Erik ten Hag, who was recently dismissed as the club’s manager. Ten Hag, who brought de Ligt to Old Trafford, was let go following a challenging season, and the club has since appointed Ruben Amorim to lead the squad.

De Ligt, who joined United with high expectations and a vision to help Ten Hag bring success, expressed his disappointment in seeing his former coach leave under such unfortunate circumstances.

The Dutch defender’s comments highlight a sense of unfulfilled ambition and loyalty toward Ten Hag. The former Ajax and Bayern Munich manager struggled to achieve consistency at United, leading to his eventual sacking.
