CLSA has highlighted the potential impact of an early summer and heat waves on the consumer durables sector, noting that a warmer-than-usual February could impact food products and rural income. However, the brokerage expects increased demand for cooling products such as air conditioners (ACs) and refrigerators, benefiting companies in the consumer electronics and home appliances space.
Additionally, summer-centric segments like ice creams and beverages are likely to see strong sales growth, as demand typically surges during extended hot weather conditions.
CLSA also noted that rising power consumption could drive up coal prices, which would be positive for Coal India and other power-related businesses. The brokerage suggests that energy and consumer durable stocks linked to seasonal demand could see strong momentum in the coming months.
