Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) witnessed a 2% jump in its share price during morning trade after securing a massive ₹8,000 crore contract from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco). As of 9:17 AM, the shares were trading 1.84% higher at Rs 206.58.
The contract involves the supply, erection, and commissioning of the Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) package for two 660 MW units (Units 11 & 12) at the Koradi Thermal Power Station in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The Letter of Award, issued on February 7, 2025, reaffirms BHEL’s dominance in India’s thermal power sector. The company won this contract through a local competitive bidding process, highlighting its expertise in executing large-scale power projects.
As per the agreement, Unit 11 is expected to be completed in 52 months, while Unit 12 will become operational in 58 months. This strategic win strengthens BHEL’s order book and reinforces investor confidence in the company’s growth prospects.
