Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) rose 3% in early trade after the company received a contract worth ₹13,300 crore to establish a 1600 MW thermal power plant in Koderma, Jharkhand.
This project, awarded by the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), is a significant step in bolstering the nation’s energy security.
As of 12:10 PM, BHEL shares were trading 1.84% higher at ₹302.40 on the NSE.
DVC has finalized the tender for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package of the Koderma Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW). Scheduled for completion by BHEL, this project will increase DVC’s installed thermal generation capacity to 8,140 MW by 2030. The initiative is expected to strengthen the energy infrastructure and stimulate economic growth in the region, providing substantial benefits to local communities.
