Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) jumped more than 3% in morning trade on Thursday after the company posted a strong set of numbers for the second quarter of FY26, showing a sharp improvement in both revenue and profitability.

BHEL’s revenue from operations grew 14% year-on-year to ₹7,511.8 crore, compared to ₹6,584.1 crore in the same quarter last year. Total income rose to ₹7,693.6 crore, up from ₹6,702.5 crore a year ago.

The company’s net profit surged over 280% YoY to ₹367.7 crore, against ₹96.7 crore in Q2 FY25. The strong bottom-line growth was supported by improved operational efficiency and better cost management.

On the operational front, EBITDA more than doubled to ₹580 crore, compared to ₹275 crore a year earlier, marking a solid 111% YoY growth. The EBITDA margin also expanded sharply to 7.73% from 4.18% last year, highlighting stronger profitability.

Meanwhile, total expenses increased 10% YoY to ₹7,201.5 crore, mainly due to higher material and employee costs.
