Karnataka Bank was the session’s sharpest faller at -1.01%, trading at ₹243.95. IndusInd Bank slipped 0.88% to ₹841.10, and J&K Bank fell 0.79% to ₹131.35. Among large-cap public sector banks, Indian Bank declined 0.71% to ₹934.00. ICICI Bank, one of the sector’s heavyweights, was down 0.41% to ₹1,339.90. SBI edged lower by 0.21% to ₹1,065.30.

Sector-level observations

Large private banks showed divergence: HDFC Bank inched up, while ICICI Bank and Axis Bank saw mild selling. IndusInd Bank, which has been under broader scrutiny in recent months, continued to face downward pressure.

Public sector banks (PSBs) were split. Bank of Maharashtra and Punjab & Sind Bank gained, while Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Indian Bank, and SBI all edged lower. Canara Bank and Union Bank were marginally negative.

Small finance banks were broadly flat to slightly positive, with AU Small Finance Bank up 0.28% and Equitas up 0.99%. Ujjivan Small Finance Bank was a minor exception, slipping 0.51%.
