Hong Kong equities came under sharp selling pressure at the open. The Hang Seng Index plunged 2.7%, with Tech Index down 2.2% and Auto Index sliding over 3% amid global trade tensions.
Hang Seng Futures mirrored the weakness, down 624 points or 2.69% at 22,562.
Other Asian markets showed mixed trends. KOSPI gained 8 points or 0.29% to 2,706. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index dropped 483 points or 1.87% to 37,481.
Gift Nifty was indicating a cautious start for Indian markets, trading at 24,851, down 20 points or 0.08% (adjusted).
