Major stock exchanges across the Asia-Pacific region traded lower on Tuesday as investors monitored United States President Donald Trump’s ongoing Asia tour. Market sentiment remained cautious following Trump’s meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, during which the two leaders signed two bilateral agreements. However, a potential China deal is still pending.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.19% at 7:16 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite dropped 0.37% shortly after. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was down 0.40%, and South Korea’s Kospi Composite declined 0.80% around the same time.

Elsewhere, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 ended the session lower by 0.48%, and Japan’s Nikkei 225 tumbled 0.68% at 7:19 am CET.

Meanwhile, the US dollar weakened against the yen, slipping 0.69% to trade at 151.826 per yen at 7:20 am CET, reflecting cautious investor sentiment amid geopolitical developments.
