Asia-Pacific markets traded mostly higher on Monday after China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported stronger-than-expected August data — industrial production rose 5.2% year-on-year, while retail sales grew 3.4%.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was flat at 7:21 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite added 0.95% a minute later. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index edged 0.24% higher at 7:22 am CET, and South Korea’s Kospi gained 0.38% at the same time.

Elsewhere, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.27% at 7:22 am CET. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was closed for trading due to the Respect for the Aged Day holiday.

In currencies, the US dollar traded 0.17% lower against the yen at 7:20 am CET, at 147.41.
