After hours AR Rahman announced his separation from wife Saira Banu, his bassist Mohini Dey took to her Instagram Story to declare that she is no longer with her husband, composer Mark Hartsuch. Both took to the Instagram page owned by the joint account of the couple to announce that the decision was mutual. Their announcement has come at the heels of AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu divorcing each other.
In a long Instagram post, Mohini wrote, “With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed (sic).”
Nevertheless, Mohini and Mark wanted their fans to know that they would still work together in the future, focusing on MaMoGi and Mohini Dey groups. Mohini requested their fans for privacy and asked not to judge them.
Mohini, 29 years old bass player from Kolkata, is known for her performance of Gaan Bangla’s Wind of Change. She has performed about forty shows together with Rahman across the globe and she presented her first album in August, 2023.
