Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman appeared in Parliament to present the Union Budget for 2024-25. Prior to the Budget presentation at 11 a.m., Sitharaman had a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Finance Minister left the Finance Ministry’s North Block offices with a copy of the Union Budget 2024-25 in digital format, as has been tradition. Her budget is her 8th straight, surpassing the previous record held by Morarji Desai.

Now the Finance Minister announced new airports, medical facilities and sports infrastructure for Bihar in the most recent budget. In addition, Rs 26,000 crore would be allocated for the state’s highways.

FM stated that the government “will formulate plan Purvodaya for all round development of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. On the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor we will support the development of an industrial nod at Gaya in Bihar.”

Her statement further reads, “It will catalyse the development of the easter region. We will also support the development of road connectivity projects- Patna -Purnea expressway, Buxar- Bhagalpur highway, Bodhgaya- Rajgir-Vaishali- Darbhanga and an additional two-lane bridge over river Ganga in Buxar for Rs 26,000 crores.”
