
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Budget for 2024-25 on Tuesday, breaking former Prime Minister Morarji Desai’s record with her seventh consecutive presentation. This is the first budget presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in its third term.
On the PM Awas Yojana, FM Nirmala Sitharaman has made significant announcements. The FM said, “3 crore homes in urban and rural areas under the PM Awas yojana – necessary allocations being made. Budget carries an allocation of over Rs 3 lakh crore for schemes benefitting women and girls.’’
The Finance Minister announced in the Interim Budget 2024 that 2 crore additional homes will be built in the next 5 years. The government stated that they had almost achieved the goal of 3 crore homes under this scheme.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana received a 66% boost to about Rs. 79,000 crore in the Budget 2023.
