United States Government led by Donald Trump has proposed a $20 billion extension in aid for the downtrodden airline industry in a new stimulus proposal worth over $1.5 trillion, White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows informed on Wednesday.
House Democrats had previously sought $2.2 trillion stimulus package in relief funds to combat the impact of coronavirus on the U.S. economy.
Republican Senators last week had introduced a bill that would give the ailing airline industry more than $28 billion in additional aid as carriers about to cut more than 30,000 jobs in early October.
Reuters reported that Mark Meadows said, “the White House’s latest offer was generous but 2 trillion was too much”.
