On Monday, the Tamil Nadu governor, Banwarilal Purohit said that the state government would make all-out efforts to reverse the economic slowdown trend that the state had seen in the past few years.
The Governor at the first session of the 16th Tamil Nadu legislative assembly said that their government will constitute an economic Advisory council to the Chief minister Stalin with the leading economic experts from over the world as its members. This will include Professor Raghuram Rajan, Dr. Arvind Subramanian, Professor Jean Dreze, and Dr. S Narayan. He also added that the government would make an all-out effort to reverse the trend of the economic slowdown and lead the way in a period of rapid economic growth, while taking full advantage of the available limited window of demographic dividend.
Banwarilal further said that on the recommendations of the council, the government would strengthen the economy of the state and ensure the benefits of growth reach to all the parts of the society.
In relation to the predicted third wave, the Governor said the medical experts had been warned for the third wave of COVID-19. The government would take all the necessary measure to counter the possible third wave, the health infrastructure was also being strengthened and all the construction projects in the health sector would be expedited for an early completion.
