The inflation data is collected through personal visits by NSO’s Field Operations Division staff in 1114 urban markets and 1181 villages across all States and Union Territories on a weekly basis. In December 2023, NSO successfully gathered prices from 99.9% of villages and 98.6% of urban markets. The reported prices covered 90.0% for rural areas and 93.7% for urban regions.
