Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday tabled the Economic Survey for FY26 in the Lok Sabha, setting the tone for the upcoming Union Budget.
The tabling of the Economic Survey comes during the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, which began on January 28 with a joint address by President Droupadi Murmu to both Houses. As per the provisional calendar issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Parliament convened again on January 29, when the Economic Survey was presented at 12 pm.
Following the tabling of the Survey, Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran is scheduled to address a press briefing, where key economic trends, growth outlook, and policy challenges highlighted in the document will be explained.
The Economic Survey serves as a detailed review of India’s economic performance over the past year and outlines the broader macroeconomic context ahead of the Union Budget.
Looking ahead, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2026 in the Lok Sabha on February 1 at 11 am. The first half of the Budget Session will conclude on February 13, while the second half will begin on March 9.
The Budget Session is scheduled to end on April 2, after which both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will be adjourned sine die.
