The cryptocurrency market witnessed a sharp sell-off early Monday, with major digital assets posting significant losses as risk-off sentiment gripped global markets. As of 7:34 AM IST, Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $79,020.01, down 5.32%, slipping below the key $80,000 mark.

Ethereum (ETH) led the decline among top tokens, falling 11.89% to $1,595.47, while Solana (SOL) also plummeted 11.23%, trading at $107.18. Other altcoins followed suit, with XRP down 9.94% at $1.93, and BNB shedding 4.88% to $563.07.

The broad-based decline comes amid growing macroeconomic uncertainty, including the recent shockwaves in global equity markets and fears of a prolonged trade standoff after former U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to tariffs on major trading partners.

The pullback has erased billions in crypto market capitalization within hours, leaving traders on edge as volatility spikes across asset classes.
