Alphabet-owned YouTube TV has stopped streaming Disney-owned channels — including ABC, ESPN, and other networks — after the companies failed to reach a new carriage agreement.
In a post on X, YouTube TV said the contract with Disney reached its renewal deadline and the platform “will not agree to terms that disadvantage our members while benefiting Disney’s TV products.” The company added that it pushed for fair pricing but could not secure terms suitable for subscribers.
“Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to reach a fair deal,” the streaming service said, adding that it understands the inconvenience for members and continues to negotiate.
YouTube TV also stated that if the blackout continues for a long period, subscribers will receive a $20 credit as compensation.
The move impacts viewers who rely on YouTube TV for Disney’s portfolio of networks, including ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, FX, National Geographic, and others. Both companies have yet to announce when an agreement might be reached.
