Tujhse Naraz Hai Zindagi fame Anup Ghoshal was hospitalized for the past few days in Kolkata due to age related ailments. The singer breathed his last on Friday due to multiple-organ failure. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee expressed grief following the demise of the singer and said, “I express my deep grief and condolence over the death of Anup Ghosal who had sung in Bengali, Hindi and other languages,” as quoted by PTI. Actress Paoli Dam also paid tribute to Anup Ghoshal and wrote, “May you find eternal harmony in the melodies of the universe! #anupghoshal #restinmusic #restinpeace.”
For the unversed, the singer was popularly known for the evergreen song Tujhse Naraz Hai Zindagi from the 1983 film Masoom. He was also associated with Satyajit Ray’s Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, Hirak Rajar Deshe. Goopy Bagha Phirey Elo, Phuleswari, and Nimantran among others. Not just Hindi and Bengali, Anup Ghoshal had also sung songs in other Indian languages such as Assamese and Bhojpuri.
The singer is survived by two daughters.
