WHAT? Imlie to be replaced by Ankit Gupta’s upcoming show? Here’s what we know

Ankit Gupta’s show is currently titled Maati Se Bandhi Dor.

Imlie, starring Sai Ketan Rao and Adrija Roy, has recently become the talk of the town, and not for good reasons. There have been various rumours that the popular Star Plus show may shortly go off broadcast. Imlie has not been performing well in terms of TRP recently.

There have been speculations that the channel may cancel Imlie, create a generational leap, or move the show to an evening time slot. However, we now hear that the show may be replaced. According to recent sources, Ankit Gupta’s new show is expected to succeed Imlie.

According to a recent article in Filmibeat, Ankit Gupta’s new show would air at 8:30 p.m. Imlie airs at 8:30 p.m. If the aforementioned news is correct, the station will either shut down Imlie or move it to an evening schedule.

If the station decides to move it to an evening time, it will most likely be at 6 p.m. Star Plus’ evening schedule already includes Teri Meri Doriyaann at 7 p.m. and Meetha Khatta Pyaar Hamara, featuring Avinash Mishra, at 6:30 p.m. This implies the channel only has the 6 p.m. slot to give Imlie if it decides to move it to the evening slot.

Talking about Ankit Gupta’s show, it is currently titled Maati Se Bandhi Dor. Aside from Ankit, the show will feature Marathi actress Rutuja Bagwe as the female lead. Ankit Gupta was also given Rohit Shetty’s show Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, but after much speculation, he opted out of the stunt-based reality show and instead picked the TV drama as his next assignment after Bigg Boss 16.

Imlie premiered in September 2020. The show is currently in its third season. Sai Ketan Rao first dismissed reports that the show might go off the air or undergo a generational leap.
