Jennifer Mistry, who played Mrs. Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, won over Asit Kumar Modi in a case involving sexual harassment. On Tuesday, the actress confirmed this and disclosed that the court’s decision was made public on February 15, 2024. Jennifer Mistry’s past-due bills have now been ordered to be paid by Asit Kumar Modi. The production was also ordered by the court to compensate Jennifer with Rs 5 lakh.
“Asit Kumar Modi has been ordered to pay me my outstanding balance plus an additional compensation of roughly Rs 25-30 lakh for fraudulently withholding my payment. Mr. Modi is fined an extra Rs 5 lakh for harassment. The verdict was released on February 15, 2024, but I was asked not to share it with the media.”
The former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress asserted, nonetheless, that she has not yet received her remaining payments. She continued to express her shock, saying that executive producer Jatin Bajaj and project head Sohail Ramani had not been penalised.
“This verdict proves that my case was not contrived, and I was not looking for cheap notoriety. While I’m delighted my harassment was acknowledged, I don’t believe I’ve received adequate justice yet,” Jennifer continued.
After leaving TMKOC in 2023, Jennifer Mistry, who had played Mrs. Roshan Sodhi in the show, submitted a complaint alleging sexual harassment at work against executive producer Jatin Bajaj, project head Sohail Ramani, and Asit Kumarr Modi. Sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertain to assault or criminal force against a woman with the intention of offending her modesty, and these charges were brought against the three individuals.
Asit Kumar Modi later replied to the FIR that was brought against him. In a statement, he refuted every accusation and provided the police with his statement. In addition, he stated that he was unsure if the FIR had been filed. Regardless, the investigation is still underway, so no further comments will be made.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most popular series on television and has been airing for more than 15 years.
