PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animalsha) has taken a new stance against animal cruelty, filing a complaint with the Aarey police station.

Following the release of images and videos showing two horses being hurt on the set of an upcoming television show, the complaint is addressed against Sobo Films, a production firm. This occurred during the production of Ek Mahanayak: Dr. BR Ambedkar.

According to reports, at least one horse suffered a fracture as a result of an incident on the set. The horses were tethered to a carriage when they hit with a barrier, resulting in the sad injury.

Concerned about the wellbeing of these animals, PETA India contacted the broadcaster and production house for comment, but received no answer.

PETA India isn’t stopping there; they’ve also filed a formal complaint with India’s Animal Welfare Board. A complaint has also been filed to Dr. Avinash Dhakane, IAS, the managing director of the Maharashtra Film, Stage & Cultural Development Corporation Limited, which is in charge of Film City.

In 2021, PETA filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Madras Talkies when a horse died on the set of Ponniyin Selvan.

This episode is reminiscent of past issues in the film business. The big-budget HBO drama “Luck,” starring Dustin Hoffman and executive produced by Michael Mann, was forced to halt production in 2011 after three horses died during filming.
