The new season of Bigg Boss is slowly becoming the season of controversies ever since the show began airing three weeks ago. In the latest episode, Jaan Kumar Sanu passed a comment over the Marathi language which intrigued a lot of public figures of Maharashtra. The singer also received a lot of threats after which, the producers of the show issued an official apology on behalf of him. Jaan’s mother, Rita Bhattacharya also expressed her views on the threats.
In the episode of Bigg Boss 14, Jaan was seen telling Nikki Tamboli to not talk around him in Marathi as it irritates him. He said, “Marathi mei mat baat kar, mere saamne mat baat kar, meko chid hoti hai. Sunaauga teko, mere saamne Marathi mei mat baat kar. Dum hai toh Hindi mei bol warna mat baat kar, chid machti hai meko.” This statement has angered a lot of public figures from Maharashtra and they have asked the producers to issue an apology and throw Jaan out of the show or they will have to face consequences. The public figures such as Pratap Baburao Sarnaik and Rahul N Kanal took to their Twitter handles and expressed their anger over various tweets. Pratap Baburao Sarnaik’s tweet read, “Big Boss मालिकेचे शूटिंग महाराष्ट्रात होते, मराठी लोकांमुळे TRP वाढतो त्याच महाराष्ट्राच्या मराठीचा अवमान मालिकेतल्या जान कुमार सानूने केला हे कदापि खपवून घेणार नाही. महाराष्ट्रात करियर घडवलेल्या गायक कुमार सानुचा मुलगा मराठीचा द्वेष व अनादर करत असेल तर हे सहन केले जाणार नाही.” whereas the tweet made by Rahul N Kanal reads, “Kamal Sanu should be thrown out of @BiggBoss immediately and such humans should not be a part of any public forum at all @ColorsTV timely apology or you want this controversy for your TRP better render an apology and throw that retard out of the show !!!”

After this, the producers of the show issued an official apology to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The apology read, “We have received objections regarding the reference to Marathi language during the episode broadcasted on 27th October 2020 on Colors channel. We have taken note of these objections and have taken corrective measures of removing the said part from all future broadcasts of the episode.”

Over the issue of threats and the official apology issued on behalf of Jaan Kumar Sanu, his mother, Rita Bhattacharya spoke to SpotboyE to send out her views in the public. She was quoted saying, “I really want to request people to keep it like a game and not drag it outside. In yesterday’s episode, when Rahul, Nikki and Jaan were together in the red zone that time Rahul and Nikki were communicating something in Marathi which my son didn’t understand, so in return he told Nikki ‘Aap Marathi mein baat mat karo’ kyunki use laga they are talking something against him. I just want them to see the situation and then come to a conclusion. How can we insult Maharashtra or Marathi language? We have been staying in Maharashtra for 35 years. This state has given Jaan’s father Kumar Sanu so much love and respect. My family and I are really disturbed because of such things.”
