Veteran Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor has vehemently dismissed circulating death rumours, assuring fans he’s “healthy and happy” while threatening legal action against the perpetrators. The 73-year-old star of Toofan, Andaz Apna Apna, and Raja Hindustani shared a direct video message on Instagram amid the viral fake news.

“Hello everyone, my death news is all fake. I am healthy, happy. Please ignore it. I am going to complaint about it… This is not good,” Shakti stated firmly, his frustration evident as he addressed the hoax head-on. The rumours, spreading via WhatsApp forwards and social media posts claiming a car crash or sudden demise, echoed past scares in 2015 and drew panicked calls from colleagues like David Dhawan and Rumi Jaffery.

Shakti plans a cyber complaint under IT Act sections for spreading misinformation, stressing its harm to families. “Such fake news is disturbing,” he added, urging responsible sharing. Daughter Shraddha Kapoor, busy with Stree 2, hasn’t commented yet, but fans flooded Shakti’s post with relief: “Thank God uncle ji!” and “Legal action zaroori!”

This isn’t Shakti’s first brush with controversy—2005 sting ops and #MeToo defences linger—but recent Welcome To The Jungle buzz revived his comic legacy. The hoax coincides with his Juhu flat sale for Rs 6.11 crore, sparking speculation, though unlinked. Bollywood veterans like Dilip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar faced similar scares, highlighting social media’s double edge.

Shakti’s quick rebuttal underscores digital literacy needs, as police trace origins. His resilience shines, proving the “Shakti Bhai” endures beyond rumours.
