Look, Season 1 ended on the biggest “are you kidding me” cliffhanger since the original show went off the air in ’97. Team’s split across three different time periods, Gambit’s probably dead (or is he?), Magneto’s floating in space like a dramatic cape-wearing balloon, and everybody lost their minds. Now the wait for Season 2 is killing us, but at least Marvel finally started talking.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 Release Details
Release Window Summer 2026. That’s the official word from NYCC this year. No exact day yet, but think June–August window on Disney+. They showed a closed-door teaser that had people screaming in Hall H, so yeah, it’s looking stacked. Voice recording finished months ago, animation’s deep in the oven. Season 3 is already green-lit too, so they’re not playing games.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 Expected Cast
Cast – Who’s Back and Who’s New Pretty much the whole gang returned:
- Cal Dodd still growling as Wolverine
- Lenore Zann killing it as Rogue
- Ray Chase as Cyclops (dude sounds exactly like the OG)
- Alison Sealy-Smith owning the room as Storm
- George Buza as everybody’s favorite blue furball Beast
- Jennifer Hale back as Jean
- A.J. LoCascio doing that perfect Gambit swagger
New blood: Neve Campbell is Polaris (yes, Sidney Prescott is now Magneto’s daughter, let that sink in). Ross Marquand pulling double duty as Professor X and Magneto. The Morph, Jubilee, Sunspot, and Roberto squad all return too.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 Potential Plot
What We Know (Spoiler-Heavy, You’ve Been Warned) Season 2 kicks off seconds after the finale. The X-Men are yeeted into different eras:
- Cyclops + Jean in the year 3960 with Mother Askani and baby Nathan (straight up Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix comic run).
- Rogue, Beast, Nightcrawler, Xavier, and Magneto stuck in ancient Egypt face-to-face with kid Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur before he got the blue glow-up).
- Wolverine, Storm, and the rest trying to hold the present together while everything burns.
Apocalypse is the big bad, obviously. He’s rounding up Horsemen again. Word is one of them might be somebody we love in zombie mode (Gambit stans, grab tissues). Expect Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Omega Red, and maybe even a twisted Mr. Sinister cameo.
There’s also heavy hints Wolverine loses the adamantium at some point. Bone claws incoming, boys.
