The eagerly awaited anthology TV show The White Lotus provides an interesting, comedic, and critical depiction of the extravagance and privilege that come with having money via opulent vacations at luxury resorts. The much-anticipated fourth season of The White Lotus will feature scandalous stories, dark humour, class conflict, and surprise twists; all told within the grandeur of luxury resort locations. The third season of The White Lotus concluded with a dramatic and surprising ending set in Thailand during April 2025.
The White Lotus Season 4 Release Timeline
The White Lotus has been renewed by HBO for Season 4 ahead of Season 3’s scheduled premiere date of February 2025. Season creator Mike White will be returning as the series’s writer, director, and executive producer with complete creative control.
There is no set release date for Season 4 as of February 2026. HBO has stated that pre-production is underway, with shooting anticipated to take place from late April through October 2026. Due to the international scope of this season’s shoot, as well as the long lead time for the post-production of this season (more than 2 years following the completion of Seasons 2 and 3), it is expected that Season 4 will be released in 2027, possibly within the first or second quarter.
There have currently been no trailers or teasers for this season released. Based on the current projected timeline for production and the timelines for previous seasons, it is highly unlikely that this season can be scheduled for 2026.
The White Lotus Season 4 Expected Cast
The White Lotus will be an anthology series with a new cast, and there are no confirmations of any previous cast members returning for the upcoming fourth season. There have been some rumors and speculation online that we may see familiar faces again, but nothing has been announced by HBO as of yet.
The confirmed cast (as of late 2025 and early 2026) will include Helena Bonham Carter in a major role with other actors including Steve Coogan, Chris Messina, Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Marissa Long, and Caleb Jonte Edwards. Sandra Bernhard was the last cast member to be confirmed as of February 2026.
There is still no information available regarding the characters and their relationship to each other. More casting announcements will be made in the near future as production commences.
The White Lotus Season 4 Potential Plot
Story information for season four is still completely secret because Mike White has not yet finished writing the 4th season of the show. Like all other seasons before it, the fourth season should be able to be enjoyed as a standalone story, but it will still share similar themes to previous seasons.
Filming will take place in France, which will bring the series back to Europe. Seasons two and three of the show were filmed in Italy and Thailand, respectively. Most of the filming will take place in southern France, but some of the filming may also take place in Paris, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
Viewers should expect to see the darkly humorous satire of wealth, power, and hypocrisy among the ultra-rich guests of the resorts and the workers who serve them. In addition, traditional mystery elements, including scandal and perhaps even murder, will also return; however, no storyline details have yet been released.
At this point, there are several theories circling around regarding plot lines about murder, returning characters, or crossover stories; however, there is no official confirmation from HBO at this time.
