Season 4 left everyone staring at the screen like they just watched their dog get kicked. Homelander basically won, Butcher’s dying in the worst way possible, and the country’s one bad day away from goose-stepping into a supe dictatorship. Now the only question that matters is when Season 5 finally hits Prime Video and how much worse things can actually get.
The Boys Season 5 Release Date Speculations
When Is It Dropping? Filming wrapped in Toronto back in August 2025. That’s the hard fact. Post-production on this show is a monster—blood, guts, lasers, and a million little VFX shots—so even with the footage in the can, Amazon still needs time to cook. Seasons 2, 3, and 4 all took roughly 18–22 months from wrap to premiere. Do the math and mid-2026 (probably June or July) feels like the sweet spot. Kripke keeps saying “2026” every time someone shoves a mic in his face, so take that as the closest thing to gospel we’ve got right now.
The Boys Season 5 Expected Cast
Who’s Coming Back (and Who’s New)? Everyone you expect is locked in. Karl Urban’s Butcher is front and center, looking rougher than ever. Antony Starr returns as Homelander, and the guy’s already teasing that this is the most unhinged the character’s ever been. Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, and Claudia Doumit are all confirmed. Chace Crawford and Jessie T. Usher round out the Seven side of things.
The big gets: Jensen Ackles is officially back as Soldier Boy. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who popped up late in Season 4, has a much bigger role this time—think Butcher’s old CIA handler with a serious grudge. New faces include Mason Dye and a couple of Gen V crossovers that haven’t been announced yet but everyone’s seen on set in costume.
The Boys Season 5 Potential Plot
What’s the Story? Kripke calls it “the apocalypse season.” Homelander’s running the country now, martial law is in full swing, and regular humans are getting juiced with Compound V whether they want it or not. The Boys are scattered, labeled terrorists, and most of them are off the grid. Butcher’s got maybe weeks left before the Temp-V tumors finish him off, unless he keeps shooting the stuff and turns into something worse than the supes he hates.
Expect three main threads:
- Butcher and Soldier Boy going full scorched-earth on Homelander.
- Starlight trying to rally whatever’s left of the good guys while Hughie questions if there even are good guys anymore.
- A-Train, The Deep, and whatever’s left of The Seven dealing with the fact that they finally got everything they wanted and it sucks.
Gen V Season 2 ties directly in—think Cate and Sam showing up with a whole army of brainwashed supes. There’s also talk of a virus that can kill supes, which obviously makes Homelander lose his damn mind.
