The Supacell superhero series is one of the most anticipated series to come out on Twitch globally for most OTT platforms. It brings together a unique combination of superpowers, grit from South London, and the heartbreaking truth of the sickle cell disease that affects ordinary Black British men and women who have become extraordinary. Fans can’t wait for Season 2 to bring them even more action, higher stakes, character growth, and more intense clashes with dark enemies after an emotional, cliffhanger-filled season-one finale, and it will be released in 2024. The wait for the exciting installment is going to continue to be long, as filming has been ongoing since October 2025, and Rapman says that this new installment will “be worth the wait.”

Supacell Season 2: Release Date & Production Status

In October 2025, filming officially started in the United Kingdom. The original planned start dates of early 2025 and summer 2025 have been delayed due to problems with scheduling and production logistics. Netflix has not yet announced an official premiere date.

The expected release window will be determined by the production timeline of late 2025 or early 2026 (filming started in late 2025), heavy post-production work (including VFX, sound effects, and editing), and the average time it takes for Netflix to turn around programming for series based on special effects.

The most likely release date is between June 2026 and September 2026, with mid-2026 as the probable timeframe. A 2025 release is not possible, and the earliest release is at the beginning of 2027 if post-production takes a long time.

There will likely still be 6 episodes of the new season, just like the first season. Rapman has confirmed on social media that the filming is currently taking place and has expressed that Season 2 will be “crazy” and on a larger scale than Season 1.

Supacell Season 2: Cast Details

While Netflix hasn’t released a formal cast list yet, Season 2 is expected to continue directly from Season 1’s cliffhanger, meaning the core cast members are expected to return. Those are likely to be

  • Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki (time-travelling focal point)
  • Nadine Mills as Sabrina Clarke
  • Josh Tedeku as Tazer
  • Calvin Demba as Rodney
  • Eric Kofi Abrefa as Andre
  • Yasmin Monet Prince as Veronica
  • Eddie Marsan as Ray

Other Season 1 characters may return depending on how the story unfolds.

Ghetts, who appeared in Season 1, will not return for Season 2 due to unrelated legal matters.

No major new cast members have been officially announced yet.

Supacell Season 2: Plot Details

The first Season of this show ended with an enormous loss for Michael, the team finally coming together, and the timeline of events changed because of their actions.

The Rapman has indicated that he considered the first Season of the show to be akin to his “Batman Begins”- in that the first Season is about discovering how he becomes.

For the second Season, The Rapman indicates that the stakes and consequences will become much darker and more serious. As a group, they will fully assume their powers, and as a result, the conflict with the shadowy organization hunting them will escalate. The Rapman indicates that Michael’s decisions will become more morally difficult, and they will also further examine the balance between destiny and Free will.

The Rapman confirmed to me that the original idea for Supacell was a 3-part series, with the second Season serving as an escalation of the events leading to the ending of the story.

Netflix announced that Rapman’s (Andrew Onwubolu) British superhero drama was one of its largest unexpected successes in 2024, since it is a grounded exploration of superhero powers in South London’s reality, while addressing both illness (sickle cell), race, community, and destiny. On August 13, 2024, Netflix confirmed the renewal of the Series for the second Season.
