Rise & Fall contestant Anaya Bangar, daughter of former Indian cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar, has opened up about her personal journey and how her family continues to process her transition.

Anaya on her parents’ response

In a candid remark, Anaya revealed that her parents are still taking time to fully come to terms with her transition. She said her father, Sanjay Bangar, is gradually adjusting to the changes but needs more time to take this moment in. Despite the challenges, she emphasized that her family’s journey alongside hers remains important to her story.

Akriti Negi shows support

Fellow contestant Akriti Negi, who recently won Splitsvilla 15 before joining Rise & Fall, expressed support for Anaya. Responding to her revelation, Akriti said, “Ho jaega, they will understand.” Her words highlighted the importance of empathy and solidarity within the show’s diverse group of participants.

Anaya’s journey so far

Anaya, formerly Aryan, transitioned in her early twenties and has been vocal about her experiences as a transgender woman, including the struggles she faced in cricket and the harassment that pushed her to step away from the sport. Now 23, she lives in Manchester, UK, and continues to work as a cricketer, graphic designer, and LGBTQ+ advocate.

By joining Rise & Fall, Anaya brings her story of resilience and representation into the spotlight, while support from fellow contestants like Akriti Negi adds to the narrative of inclusivity the show is expected to showcase.
