As the official cast for season two of the Korean web series Squid Game on Netflix was revealed, fans were ecstatic. On Sunday, Netflix posted a brand-new video introducing the cast on Twitter. Netflix broadcast the first season of Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game in 2021.

Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong Geun will be joining the cast as new actors for the second season. Also returning to the programme are the season one cast members Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo.

A little preview of season one was shown in the opening film. The new cast was then seen approaching a podium. It has two lights: a red and a green one. They all click the green button.

Sharing the clip, Netflix wrote, “Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo will all be returning for Squid Game Season 2! And #TUDUM just revealed four new actors who will be joining the cast!” Reacting to the post, a fan wrote, “Can’t wait for season 2.” Another comment read, “No cause they came back with a hot plot…..” Another person said, “Please more Gong Yoo, Lee Byung Hun.”

An Instagram user commented, “I need a release date.” Another person asked, “So basically Jeon Jae Joon is bankrupt and now he is going to make challenge on Squid Game season 2?!?!?!” A few people questioned the absence of female cast members. A person asked, “Are you kidding me no girls cast!???!” A comment read, “Okay but where are the women?” Another Instagram user said, “Where them girls at?” “Why are there no women,” wrote another person.

According to a Soompi article, Squid Game will start shooting in July. According to an earlier article from Hindustan Times, 456 candidates will participate in a series of non-lethal challenges for a $4.56 million prize pool in the next season.

Although the lethal games will not be present in the new season, it will still be exciting and fierce. Squid Game: The Challenge will hit screens in November of this year, according to an earlier confirmation from Netflix.

The popular Korean programme made history last year when it became the first non-English-language programme to be nominated for best drama at the Emmy Awards. It was defeated by the HBO programme Succession, nevertheless.

The first Asian actor to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series was Lee Jung-Jae, who made history at the awards ceremony.

For her role in the programme, Lee You-mi also made history by being the first Korean woman actor to be named Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Additionally, Squid Game was recognised for outstanding special visual effects in a single episode, outstanding stunt work, and outstanding production design for a contemporary narrative programme lasting one hour or more. Another Emmy for Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series went to Hwang Dong-hyuk.
