
Filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor’s political series ‘City of Dreams’ is all geared up to release its second season on OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar on July 30. The Hotstar series features actors Atul Kulkarni and Priya Bapat, retreating as father-daughter duo Ameya Rao Gaikwad and Poornima Gaikwad.
The trailer reveals how Poornima (Priya) and Ameya (Atul) get into a head-on crash as they tussle over political power. The fight gets nasty as we see back-stabbing, double-crossing and bloodshed in great detail, the latest season will also showcase Poornima’s fight against patriarchy as she “locks horns with her father, to gain control over the chief minister position”.
Calling her on screed personality “inspiring and admirable”, Priya explained she was thrilled how her part appealed to the audience, particularly women, who found her “empowering”.
Poornima keeps on battling the patriarchal system of politics to gain power over the state. She shuts horns with her father as the two put various lives at risk while the state sets up for elections. As per the trailer, Poornima is the interim Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the head of Maharashtra Jan Shakti Party (MJS). She gets assistance from Wasim Khan and retired state chief Jagdish Gurav.
City of Dreams first debuted on the web in May 2019. The political drama hit the OTT platform, the series will now premiere its second season on Disney Plus Hotstar on July 30. While Sachin Pilgaonkar and Eijaz Khan and reprise their characters, actor Sushant Singh is the new part of the series.
