On Friday, 5th March, while hearing a case related to the ‘Tandav’ web-series of Amazon Prime Video, the top most court made some notable points that needs to be considered. ANI quotes Supreme Court’s statement, “The new guidelines of the government on regulating OTT platforms like Netflix & Amazon Prime Video has “no teeth” as there is no provision of prosecution.”

The Supreme Court further says, “Law has to be framed to put in place a mechanism to control OTT platforms instead of mere guidelines.”

Supreme Court also holds the arrest of Amazon Prime Video’s Aparna Purohit in ‘Tandav’ web-series case. The court asks Purohit to co-operate in the ongoing investigation.

Earlier, Tandav web-series was alleged for hurting sentiments of a specific community by making fun of their god. Later, the makers agreed to remove such scenes from the series. Also, government has recently announced fresh OTT guidelines which divide viewers in many age categories.
