Animal Kingdom continues to be one of television’s premier crime dramas and has shown us the brutality of the Cody family’s criminal enterprise through a series of thefts at the highest level, as well as within the family itself (betrayal), and the way their mutual bonding is an unbreakable force. Many fans can’t wait for any signs of Season 7, especially after Netflix picked up the series in 2025 after a huge resurgence in popularity following 6 seasons filled with emotional moments. This gave the gritty neo-noir saga a chance to reach a new audience worldwide before the show ended season 6 with a bang in 2022. While members of the cast (Shawn Hatosy) have expressed interest in revisiting the Cody family (“I would love to do more”), and there appears to be an opening for the potential to do spin-off series or revivals, there are no current announcements or official plans as of February 2026.

Animal Kingdom Season 7 Returning Status

The drama ended after Season 6; Season 6 completed airing in August 2022. And as of now, TNT will not be renewing Animal Kingdom for a seventh season.

Reputable and knowledgeable industry sources confirm TNT has no plans to reconvene Animal Kingdom for a new season or any kind of reboot or spinoff.

As of 2025, multiple articles published state, “Rather than report or deny spinoff plans, as of right now, no plans are in place for Animal Kingdom to return with a new season or spinoff series, but anything is possible down the road.”

Many reliable and accurate renewal status sites have updated their listings to verify that Animal Kingdom has ended, as of this writing.

Though this show was not cancelled abruptly after six seasons of production (it was planned that way), the end of Animal Kingdom would wrap up the entire family saga on a dramatic high note, rather than just ending the show without closure to the story lines and characters.

At this point, the fact that the door has not been completely closed for such a possibility, especially considering the recently renewed interest in the show streaming forward on various network platforms, gives at least some basis for having very slight potential for the show to continue beyond the sixth and final season.

Animal Kingdom Season 7 Expected Cast

Due to the fact that there are no current plans to create a season 7 for Animal Kingdom, there haven’t been any negotiations or confirmed returns for cast members who were involved in the previous seasons. However, as a result of many key individuals attached to the show expressing publicly how much they enjoyed working on the series, there is hope for Animal Kingdom’s future.

Some of the main people involved in Animal Kingdom are also some of the show’s main creative minds, including John Wells (creator and executive producer) and actor Shawn Hatosy. During their interviews, they have both stated that they would like the opportunity to continue telling stories about the characters from Animal Kingdom as long as there is a proper opportunity to do so. Hatosy has gone further by saying, “I would love to do more whenever it happens.”

At this point, these statements are personal, rather than being an official announcement. There have not been any parties officially associated with any continuation, revival, or spin-off of Animal Kingdom at this time.

Animal Kingdom Season 7 Potential Plot

The show, Animal Kingdom, was not cancelled suddenly but rather, planned from the beginning to have a clear ending with the end of Season 6 to allow the writers to create a more definitive conclusion to the Cody family saga. Therefore, there are no outstanding cliffhangers that put pressure on the writers to return for an additional season.

Additionally, if there were to be a revival of the franchise, it is most likely to be some type of limited series or spin-off as opposed to a continuation of the existing storyline. However, as of now, this continues to be just speculation.
