The series Heated Rivalry has been highly discussed in relation to global OTT content and provides a very realistic and steamy portrayal of a secret relationship between two rival professional ice hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. The innovative queer sports drama, which is based on Rachel Reid’s famous Game Changers series, has kept viewers engrossed with its intense rivalry between the two characters on the ice, secret romance off the ice, heartfelt emotion, and no-holds-barred examination of love and romance in the face of great personal and professional challenges for both players. Fans can’t wait for Season 2 because they know it will be full of deeper levels of commitment, higher levels of emotional risk, more dramatic changes and shifts in their lives, and even greater chemistry between the two players following the epic conclusion of Season 1 in late 2025.

Heated Rivalry Season 2 Release Date Speculations

After an outstanding reception of the series on Crave (Canada) & HBOmax (USA), Heated Rivalry has officially announced the second season. The creative team has confirmed that they are working on the second season due to the show’s immense popularity.

There hasn’t been a specific premiere date announced at this time, but Showrunner/Director Jacob Tierney has said that they are targeting spring of 2027 for the creative finish, although that is not yet a lock from either network.

There has been limited mention of potential bonus content or specials to air before season 2; however, nothing has been confirmed and should be considered speculation until an announcement is made.

Heated Rivalry Season 2 Expected Cast

The two lead actors are confirmed to return:

  • Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander
  • Connor Storrie as Ilya Rozanov

Both actors publicly announced the renewal in December 2025 and are reported to be signed on for multiple seasons.

Other cast members expected to return, which include:

  • Callan Potter (Hayden Pike)
  • Kamilla Kowal (Jacki Pike)
  • Christina Chang (Yuna Hollander)
  • Dylan Walsh (David Hollander)
  • François Arnaud (Scott Hunter)
  • Robbie G.K. (Kip Grady)

No new cast additions have been officially announced. Additional characters from Rachel Reid’s Game Changers book series may appear, but casting details have not been confirmed.

Heated Rivalry Season 2 Potential Plot

In Season 2, the adaptation will pick up logically after Season 1, continuing to adapt content from Rachel Reid’s Game Changer series, where Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov’s storylines will evolve, as of now they have several years of playing experience as NHL players, but while being public rival, they will also be exploring the growth of the relationship they have privately developed.

The tone will probably reflect their growth and the progression of their character arcs, so the tone will most likely be a little bit older than in Season 1 and will not repeat the enemies-to-lovers storyline again.

It has not been officially stated if there will be six episodes in Season 2 or if they will continue to create SIX episodes for future seasons, but it appears that this will happen.
