The first and official trailer of the upcoming crime drama on Netflix is finally unveiled by the filmmakers. Directed By Hansal Mehta, the upcoming crime drama will star Karishma Tanna in the pivotal role as she will be seen as a Journalist, Jagruti Pathak.
The upcoming series is based on the memoir by journalist Jigna Vora called “Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison”. Her memoir revolves around her arrest due to the connections with the murder of journalist Jyotirmoy Dev, who was killed by the members of the Chota Rajan Gang in 2011.
Talking about the series, filmmaker Hansal Mehta said, “The book is primarily based in the prison, I wanted to expand the scope of the book because I found the world that led her to prison very fascinating,”
He continued, “It became this larger drama about a middle-class girl in Mumbai with the middle-class aspirations of being the best crime reporter, having pieces on page one. She blindly chases those ambitions not realizing that in the bargain, the reporter becomes the reporter, so that fascinated me. I found the elements of a thrilling, investigative procedural drama.”
According to Monika Shergill, Netflix India, the Scoop is a powerful untold story of the unexpected cost of ambition that can make a victim out of a winner in a second.
‘Scoop’ is all set to hit the screens via Netflix as it streams from June 2, 2023.
