In August 2024, Netflix renewed Supacell for a second season after a very successful premiere in June 2024. Creator Rapman has a three-season arc planned out, with the first season being his “Batman Begins” and the second season being where characters start to evolve into who they become. He says the second season will be “really crazy” and “really, really dark” because of everything that happened at the end of the first season and the heightened emotions from that.

The production of Supacell was delayed but will finally begin filming in October of 2025, with Rapman confirming on Instagram that they are now filming (with a picture of a script page) and it will be “worth the wait.” He will have a new director, Koby Adom (Top Boy), alongside him as director for the second season.

Returning to the cast are Tosin Cole (Michael), Nadine Mills (Sabrina), Eric Kofi-Abrefa (Andre), Calvin Demba (Rodney), Josh Tedeku (Tazer), Yasmin Monet Prince (Veronica), Eddie Marsan (Ray), and many others, such as Adelayo Adedayo (Dionne). New cast members coming on board for the second season (announced around early 2026) include Frank Bourke (His Dark Materials), Tiana Simone (Stranger Things), Richard Keep, and Ed Allenby.

Speculation regarding the plot revolves around how the characters seek out the hidden organisation after supes and how Michael is likely looking for vengeance using time travel; what Veronica’s purpose is within the plot; whether any new threats will arise; and what new powered characters will be available to explore sickle cell disease more fully. Details about the actual plot remain secret.

When is the release planned? We don’t know due to an absence of a date; filming is taking place, so the timetable for release is now more likely at least late 2026, but also likely late 2027. Many fans are being impatient and excited by updates being posted via social media; however, anticipation continues to build for what may occur if there are new powers and whether the stakes will be raised even higher, as well as what Rapman may do to expand upon the story of South London’s superhero.
