Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 is officially confirmed and in production at Madhouse. It was announced on March 27/28, 2026, right after Season 2’s finale, with a premiere set for October 2027.
The season will adapt the acclaimed Golden Land Arc (El Dorado arc), one of the manga’s strongest storylines. It follows Frieren, Fern, and Stark as they investigate a golden city, teaming up with first-class mage Denken against Macht of the Golden Land—the last surviving member of the Seven Sages of Destruction and a powerful demon with transmutation abilities. The arc explores deep themes of humanity, regret, emotions, coexistence, and understanding across long lifespans, blending mystery, philosophical dialogue, and intense battles.
A key visual featuring Macht was released with the announcement. Core cast returns are expected, though new staff/cast details are pending. The arc covers substantial manga chapters (roughly volumes 8–11), supporting a high-quality 12+ episode cour.
The 18-month gap allows Madhouse time for exceptional animation, especially for the visually rich golden setting and complex magic fights. Fans largely welcome the wait for quality, mirroring the series’ deliberate pacing. The manga remains on indefinite hiatus, but Season 3 has ample material.
Excitement is high for emotional payoffs, Macht’s portrayal, and expanded lore. Further updates like trailers are expected closer to 2027. The journey continues with one of Frieren’s most memorable arcs.
