“Emily in Paris” has elevated the allure of the Parisienne chick lifestyle to new heights. Season 3 skillfully combined relationship dramas, office adventures, and dazzling couture, leaving fans eager to know what lies ahead for Emily Cooper in the City of Lights. However, the ongoing strikes by WGA and SAG-AFTRA have affected various high-end shows, including “Stranger Things,” “The Sandman,” and “Outer Banks.” Regrettably, it seems that “Emily in Paris” Season 4 has also been impacted.

Originally set to commence production in late summer or early fall, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have caused a two-month delay, pushing the potential release date to late fall. This timeline, however, depends on reaching a fair deal; otherwise, the Netflix original could face indefinite postponement, leaving fans to wait for Emily’s adventures for another year or two.

When filming does commence, France will continue to serve as the primary shooting location. Interestingly, there have been hints from star Lily Collins about her character potentially visiting Rome, suggesting that some scenes may also be shot in Italy.

On February 25, 2023, writer Joshua Levy posted a tweet with a photo, indicating his involvement in the writing team for Season 4. This signals that the screenwriters and dialogue writers have started laying the foundation for the upcoming season of “Emily in Paris.”

The series’ first season premiered on Netflix in October 2020, followed by the second and third seasons in December of the subsequent years. However, given the ongoing strikes and uncertainties, it is expected that Season 4 will not adhere to the same release pattern. Fans can anticipate the next installment of “Emily in Paris” to arrive sometime in late 2024 or early 2025, provided a fair deal is reached.

Lily Collins, who portrays the lead character, Emily Cooper, is also actively involved as an executive producer for the show. In an interview with People, she expressed her desire for Emily’s character to receive closure in Season 4. Additionally, she emphasized that her character’s friendship with Ashley Park’s Mindy Chen will remain genuine and grounded in the upcoming season.

The previous season of “Emily in Paris” was marked by a series of significant challenges, impacting Emily on both personal and professional fronts. With Savoir’s parent company withdrawing support for its French operations, Emily’s boss, Madeline (Kate Walsh), decided to return to Chicago. In contrast, Emily made the bold decision to stay in Paris, landing her old job back at Sylvie’s (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) new firm.

On a more personal level, Emily’s relationship with her boyfriend, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), encountered turbulence when Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat) entered the picture. The engagement of the latter couple not only proved disastrous for them but also disrupted the peaceful waters of Emily and Alfie’s relationship, leading to the assumption that Alfie might have left her for good. Season 3 of “Emily in Paris” concluded on an exhilarating cliffhanger as Gabriel revealed Camille’s pregnancy and confessed his feelings for Emily, reciprocated by Emily herself.

Creator Darren Star shared insights into Emily’s character arc, particularly in her professional life, stating that her attitude and competitive nature have significantly affected the work culture at Sylvie’s company, sometimes sidelining Julien due to Emily’s dominant presence.

In addition to the main cast members reprising their roles in Season 4, it is expected that some of the new recurring and supporting characters introduced in Season 3 will also feature prominently. For instance, Paul Forman, who portrays Mindy’s new love interest, Nicolas de Léon, is likely to reprise his role, alongside Melia Kreiling, who played Camille’s love interest, Sofia. Kate Dias, who played Benoît, and Kate Walsh, who portrayed Emily’s American boss, Madeline Wheeler, are also expected to return for this sartorial rom-com’s upcoming season.

As of now, Netflix has not provided any official updates about “Emily in Paris” Season 4, leaving the show’s fate uncertain. Although it was rumored that the show received a two-season renewal order and filmed back-to-back, it remains unclear if Season 4 will be the final installment. Netflix has been known to grant two-season renewal orders for original series, so fans can hope for the possibility of more “Emily in Paris” in the future.
