The first season ended with half the galaxy on fire and the Harkonnen sisters running for their lives straight to the one planet nobody in their right mind visits voluntarily: Arrakis. Season 2 is already filming, the cast keeps growing, and the leaks coming out of Hungary and Jordan look insane. Here’s everything that’s actually confirmed right now, no fluff, no filler.

When is Dune Prophecy Season 2 dropping?

HBO green-lit the second season literally three days before the Season 1 finale aired in December 2024. Cameras started rolling in August 2025. They’re shooting in Budapest, the Jordanian desert, and southern Spain – the same spots that made the first season look like a billion-dollar movie.

Eight episodes this time (two more than Season 1). Word from the set is they’re aiming for late 2026 – probably November – to ride the holiday buzz and not clash too hard with Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 3, which lands December 2026 in theaters. Worst-case delay pushes it to early 2027, but nobody on the production wants that.

Who’s back and who just joined the chaos?

Pretty much the whole surviving main cast is returning:

  • Emily Watson – Valya Harkonnen (still the coldest woman in the universe)
  • Olivia Williams – Tula Harkonnen (now dealing with the mother-of-the-year twist)
  • Travis Fimmel – Desmond Hart (yes, the guy who’s secretly Tula’s kid with an Atreides)
  • Sarah-Sofie Boussnina – Princess Ynez
  • Jodhi May – Empress Natalya
  • Josh Heuston – Constantine Corrino
  • Chloe Lea – Lila
  • Shalom Brune-Franklin – Mikaela (the Fremen wildcard)

Dead or gone: Mark Strong, Tabu, Jihae – their bodies are barely cold and the story’s already moving on without them.

Brand-new faces announced November 2025:

  • Indira Varma (she was originally cast as Natalya but had to drop out of Season 1 – now she’s back in a mystery role)
  • Tom Hollander (expect maximum scheming)
  • Ashley Walters (Top Boy energy walking into the Dune universe)

Roles are still under lock and key, but set leaks point to heavy Spacing Guild and Mentat involvement.

What to expect in Dune Prophecy Season 2

Season 1 ended with Valya, Ynez, and Keiran fleeing to Arrakis after the palace bloodbath. Tula stayed behind and found out Desmond Hart – the half-machine enforcer who’s been hunting sisters – is her son from a forbidden fling with an Atreides centuries ago. Yeah, the family tree just became a circle.

Season 2 jumps straight to the desert. For the first time the show leaves the imperial planet and goes full Dune: sandworms, Fremen camps, spice harvesters, the works. Valya wants Ynez back on the throne. The Fremen have their own plans. Desmond’s machine-tainted bloodline is tied to some ancient prophecy about a plague that could wipe out the sisterhood. And someone (or something) is waking up old Reverend Mother ghosts inside young acolytes back home.

Expect open warfare instead of just corridor whispering. The Spacing Guild finally shows up with their mutated navigators, Mentats start picking sides, and the desert itself becomes the main character.
