Man, remember that gut-punch ending of Season 3? Emma walking out, Leaphorn staring at that empty house like the whole damn desert just swallowed his soul, Chee and Bernadette finally kissing but you just KNOW it’s gonna blow up… yeah. That shit lingered. And now AMC finally quit torturing everyone and dropped real Season 4 news instead of making fans refresh Deadline every five minutes like addicts.

Here’s everything that’s out there right now – scraped from every corner of the internet, no bullshit, no filler.

Dark Winds Season 4 Release Details

Sunday, February 15, 2026, 9/8c on AMC and AMC+. Eight episodes, just like Season 3 (thank god they stopped with that six-episode tease). Weekly drops, so we’ll all be screaming in group chats every Monday morning again.

If you’re late to the party: Seasons 1-3 are on Netflix right now. Season 3 literally just hit Netflix like three weeks ago. Perfect timing – go binge before someone spoils the Season 3 finale for you (too late for some of us).

Dark Winds Season 4 Cast News

Everybody who matters is back:

  • Zahn McClarnon as Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn (and yes, the king is directing an episode this year – somebody hold me)
  • Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, still fine, still spiritually confused, still probably gonna make bad decisions
  • Jessica Matten as Sgt. Bernadette Manuelito – easily the toughest person on television
  • Deanna Allison as Emma Leaphorn (that marriage is hanging by a thread and everyone knows it)
  • A Martinez as Gordo Sena, the sheriff who somehow always shows up right when shit gets real

New blood that’s already stressing everyone out:

  • Titus Welliver (yeah, Bosch himself) playing Dominic McNair – some ruthless L.A. crime boss running drugs and stolen art. Titus in the 70s with a perm and bad vibes? Inject that straight into my veins.
  • Franka Potente as Irene Vaggan (sounds like pure trouble)
  • Chaske Spencer as Sonny
  • Isabel DeRoy-Olson as Billie Tsosie
  • Luke Barnett as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw (Feds never mean anything good on this show)

Zahn said making his directorial debut on a show this personal feels “surreal” and thanked AMC for believing in them. Dude was choking up in the interview. You can tell this one hurts different.

Dark Winds Season 4 Potential Plot

Season 4 pulls straight from The Ghostway (book 6), with heavy ghost sickness themes running through everything. If you don’t know – ghost sickness is that Navajo belief where if you’re around death without the proper ceremony, the spirit clings to you. Causes nightmares, illness, despair… all the fun stuff this show loves to weaponize.

This time a young Navajo girl goes missing. Case starts normal – reservation, familiar ground – then yanks Leaphorn, Chee, and Bernadette all the way to 1970s Los Angeles for three whole episodes. Yes, L.A. Neon lights, disco, corruption, the whole culture shock nightmare. They’re chasing an obsessive killer tied to Dominic McNair’s crime syndicate. Think seedy motels, crooked cops, and our three heroes completely out of their element while everything back home falls apart.
