Legendary Welsh guitarist Phil Campbell, best known for his long tenure with the band Motörhead, left behind not only a remarkable musical legacy but also a close-knit family. The musician, who died in March 2026 at the age of 64, was a proud father to three sons — Todd, Dane, and Tyla Campbell.

Several of Phil Campbell’s children followed in his footsteps and became musicians, even performing alongside him in his later musical project.

Todd Campbell

Todd Campbell is the eldest son of Phil Campbell and is also a guitarist. Like his father, Todd developed a passion for heavy metal music and eventually became part of the band Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons.

The group was formed after Motörhead disbanded following the death of frontman Lemmy Kilmister in 2015. Todd played guitar alongside his father, helping keep the classic heavy metal sound alive through tours and new music releases.

Dane Campbell

Dane Campbell is another son of the Motörhead guitarist and served as the drummer in Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons. Dane’s energetic drumming style became an essential part of the band’s live performances.

Playing alongside his father gave Dane the opportunity to continue the family’s connection to the rock and heavy metal scene while touring internationally with the group.

Tyla Campbell

Tyla Campbell, the youngest of Phil Campbell’s three sons, is a bass guitarist and also joined the family band. With Todd on guitar and Dane on drums, Tyla helped form the core rhythm section of Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons.

The band became a unique family collaboration, with three generations of Campbell musicians contributing to the heavy metal genre.
