Sona Mohapatra claims Jasleen Royal was under-prepared for opening act for Coldplay concert

Jasleen Royal has been receiving heavy criticism for her opening act at Coldplay’s Mumbai concert, as many fans are feeling disappointed with her performance, which as per them was “out of tune.” Now, singer Sona Mohapatra has chipped in and expressed that Jasleen appeared to be unprepared for the performance.

During an interview with Indie’N Folk Project, Sona expressed disappointment over Jasleen Royal’s controversial performance at Coldplay’s concert. She felt like that Jasleen’s act seemed off-key, especially considering the grand stage and opportunity. She went on to suggest that Jasleen might not have prepared properly, despite of having a full band and backing singers were involved.

Sona also criticized the industry onto choosing the artists based on their views and followers, rather than choosing true talent.

She pointed out that being a successful songwriter or having a viral video does not make a great performer. As per Sona, the lack of merit based system in the industry is depriving a lot of deserving artists from their due recognition.

Sona also clarified that she was not celebrating someone’s failure, but rather expressed that the moment was heartbreaking.

Meanwhile, Jasleen is known for delivering hits like Ranjha and Din Shagna Da, performed as opening act for Coldplay’s concert in Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
